Chatham Area Transit (CAT) provides public transportation for Savannah and Chatham County, Georgia. Founded in the 1980s, CAT operates seven days a week with about 60 buses, including around 10 electric models. The system runs fixed bus routes and paratransit service. The downtown shuttles, known as the dot, are free. CAT’s main hub is the Joe Murray Rivers Jr. Intermodal Transit Center, opened in 2013 and named after a Georgia transit advocate.

CAT uses diesel and hybrid buses, with roughly 17,000 riders daily. There are three free downtown dot shuttles. The Downtown Loop was updated in 2022 with new stops and a revised route. In January 2024, CAT started a four-month fare-free pilot for students in Chatham County, replacing a 50% discount program. Some parents were concerned about children riding with the general public.

When CAT began in 1986, Pooler, Thunderbolt and Port Wentworth did not receive CAT services.
