Charles Beaubrun
Charles Beaubrun (also spelled Bobrun) lived from 1604 to 1692 and was a French portrait painter in Paris from about 1630 to 1670. He was born in Amboise into a family of painters and learned from his uncle Louis Beaubrun. He and his cousin Henri Beaubrun II (1603–1677) worked as court portraitists for Louis XIII and Louis XIV; some of their works are credited to both. His younger brother Michel Beaubrun (died 1642) was also a painter. Beaubrun died in Paris. He painted many portraits of the French queens in the court style. For example, his portrait of Maria Theresa of Spain, wife of Louis XIV, is similar to an earlier portrait of Anne of Austria, wife of Louis XIII, both showing the same regal gowns.
