Killytoney
Killytoney is a townland in the civil parish of Kilcronaghan, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Its Irish name, Coill an Tonnaigh, is usually translated as "wood of the stockade." The townland covers about 208.6 acres (84.4 hectares) and lies in the center of Kilcronaghan, bordered by Calmore, Cloughfin, Coolsaragh, Gortamney, Killynumber, and Moyesset. It was granted to the Drapers Company during the plantation period. Historically it was part of the Tobermore electoral ward and, in 1901 and 1926, of the Iniscarn division within Magherafelt Rural District; it is in the historic barony of Loughinsholin. The name likely refers to a former wooden stockade, and there was a rath (old fort) in the area, suggesting such defenses once stood there.
