Chapin is a small village in Morgan County, Illinois. It had 475 residents in 2020. The village was named after its founders, Charles and Horace Chapin, and is part of the Jacksonville area.

Chapin sits along U.S. Route 67 on the north side of town. Illinois Route 104 runs with 67 through Chapin, linking the village to Jacksonville (about 10 miles to the east) and Meredosia (about 10 miles to the northwest). Beardstown is roughly 22 miles northwest.

The village covers 1.0 square mile, all land, at an elevation of about 623 feet. The land drains into three streams: Lick Branch flows northeast to Indian Creek (a tributary of the Illinois River); the northwest corner is the source of Coon Run, which flows to the Illinois River; and the southern half drains to Mauvaise Terre Creek, which also reaches the Illinois River.
