Chake Chake District is one of two districts in Pemba South Region, Tanzania. It covers 219 square kilometers and has about 136,298 people (2022). The capital is the town of Chake-Chake. The district sits on Pemba Island, with the Indian Ocean to the east and west. It is bordered by Wete District to the north and Mkoani District to the south. The population density is about 622 people per square kilometer. The people are mainly Swahili settlers and Hadimu natives, and residents are called Chakechaken. Coordinates are roughly 5.245°S, 39.796°E.
