Wenn wir das Leben teilen
Wenn wir das Leben teilen (When we share life) is a Christian hymn from 2001. The words are by Hans Florenz and the melody by Michael Wackenheim. It is part of the Neues Geistliches Lied (NGL) genre. The song has five verses, and each ends with a refrain. The tune is in E minor and common time, with a lively rhythm. In the refrain, the words “Jesus Christ” appear with three quarter notes in a row.
The hymn is included in Gotteslob as GL 474 and is also found in youth hymnals like Ein Segen sein. It is often used as an offertory hymn for weddings and can be used to begin or end such ceremonies. The Katholikentag in Stuttgart in 2022 used the motto “leben teilen” (share life), taken from this song.
