Carole Ann Bewley is an American chemist who leads the Laboratory of Bioorganic Chemistry at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). She is a senior investigator focused on how small molecules and peptides interact with proteins and carbohydrates, with the goal of designing new medicines. Her work also involves creating molecules that can block viral entry or help study it.

Bewley earned her PhD from the University of California, San Diego in 1995. Her dissertation, supervised by D. John Faulkner, explored new antifungal and cytotoxic cyclic peptides and the bacterial partners of lithistid sponges.
