Carmine Pariante
Carmine Maria Pariante, born March 1966, is a professor of biological psychiatry at King’s College London and a consultant perinatal psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. He leads the Affective Disorders and Interface with Medicine theme at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre. He earned a PhD from the University of London and an MD from Gemelli University in Rome. His research looks at how stress contributes to mental illness and how people respond to psychiatric drugs, with a focus on depression and fatigue during the perinatal period and in people with other medical conditions. In 2012, he was named Academic Psychiatrist of the Year by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is editor-in-chief of Brain, Behavior and Immunity and its open-access companion Brain, Behavior and Immunity Integrative.
