Carlos Rodón
Carlos Rodón is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees. He throws left-handed and was born on December 10, 1992, in Miami, Florida, and grew up in Holly Springs, North Carolina. He played NCAA baseball at North Carolina State University and was the third overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox, signing for about $6.6 million.
Rodón made his major league debut with the White Sox in 2015. He threw a no-hitter on April 14, 2021, against the Cleveland Indians and earned three All-Star selections (2021, 2022, 2025). His career has included significant injuries, including Tommy John surgery in 2019.
In 2022 he signed with the San Francisco Giants (with an opt-out after the first season). After opting out, he joined the New York Yankees on a six-year, $162 million contract. The 2023 season was slowed by a left forearm muscle strain and a back injury, but he returned to pitch later that year. In 2024 he went 16-9 with a 3.96 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 175 innings. He began the 2025 season as the Yankees’ Opening Day starter and finished the year 18-9 with a 3.09 ERA and 203 strikeouts in 195 1/3 innings; he was named to the All-Star team again.
After the 2025 season, Rodón had elbow bone spur surgery and is not expected to be ready for Opening Day 2026, but he aims to return to the rotation in spring or early May.
Off the field, Rodón is married to Ashley since 2018, and they have a daughter and two sons. His father immigrated from Cuba, and his mother is Cuban-American.
