Canadian Society of Safety Engineering
Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) is a Canadian professional association that promotes accident prevention and safe work practices. Founded in 1949 by a small group, it grew from a provincial organization into a national and international network for health and safety professionals. Today, the CSSE has more than 5,000 members across Canada, the United States, and other countries, with 35 local chapters for networking and information sharing. Through chapter events, members help raise the profile of safety work in communities across Canada. The society’s mission is to be the go-to resource for professional development, knowledge, and information exchange for its members, the safety profession, and the Canadian public. It offers the Certified Health and Safety Consultant designation for professionals who meet education and experience requirements and pass exams. The CSSE promotes participation during North American Occupational Safety Week to raise awareness of safety and health, and it holds an annual conference.
