1999 Jessore bombings
On March 6, 1999, two time bombs exploded at a cultural event in Jessore, Bangladesh, organized by Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi. The attack happened after midnight at the Jessore Town Hall grounds. Ten people were killed and about 150 were injured. The bombing was carried out by Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B). Mufti Abdul Hannan, the group's leader, later admitted responsibility and called the bombing a success. Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi is a major cultural organization in the country.
