CT4N
CT4N, formerly Nottingham Voluntary Transport and then Nottingham Community Transport, is a charity and bus operator based in Nottingham, England. Its legal entity, CT4N Ltd, is the trading arm of the CT4N Charitable Trust, which works to reduce social isolation and boost community life across Nottingham and the surrounding counties.
History
The group began in 1979 with four vehicles as Nottingham Voluntary Transport. In 1988 it became Nottingham Community Transport, a charity and limited company. In 1998 the headquarters moved to the Sherwood Bus Garage, and in 2016 CT4N was set up as the trading arm of Nottingham Community Transport. In 2018 the CT4N brand officially launched, with contracted bus services transferring to the new commercial arm. The charity also purchased a new minibus for Group Travel with support from the Postcode Lottery.
Operations and bases
CT4N’s headquarters are at the former Sherwood Tram Depot in Nottingham. It has three additional operating bases: the Queens Drive park-and-ride site in Nottingham, the East Midlands Gateway, and Mansfield Woodhouse. The company runs a range of services in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including the Easylink door-to-door service for people who may struggle to use standard buses or trams.
Safety and COVID-19
In April 2020, a CT4N bus driver died with COVID-19 symptoms. The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers criticized safety measures and called for an investigation. CT4N said it had stopped cash handling, increased peak-hour buses to avoid crowding, and improved hand-washing facilities.
