Lex McLean
Lex McLean, born Alexander McLean Cameron on 30 April 1907 in Clydebank, Scotland, died on 23 March 1975 at age 68. He was a Scottish comedian nicknamed “Sexy Lex” for his risqué but never obscene humor. His act was so popular that it was approved by the Lord Chamberlain. Often described as one of Scotland’s last great music hall comedians, he played to full houses across Scotland from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, before semi-retiring due to ill health. At his peak, he starred in the BBC Scotland TV series Lex and Lex Again (1968–1972). He was a Rangers fan and even had Ibrox legend George Young as a guest on his show. McLean was also a Freemason, belonging to Lodge Dramatic No 571 in Glasgow, and he was married to Grace Dryburgh.
