The Broad Party of Socialist Left (Partido Amplio de Izquierda Socialista, PAIS) was a Chilean left-wing party that existed from December 1988 to March 1990. It formed to register candidates from groups that could not sign up under the United Left banner at the time, bringing together the Communist Party (then banned), Christian Left, MAPU, and PS-Almeyda. The party was led by Luis Maira, with leadership shared among the member organizations.

PAIS was declared a “formation party” on 17 December 1988 and officially registered as a political party on 15 April 1989. Its headquarters were in Santiago. The party identified with socialism, Marxism, and democratic socialism, and positioned itself on the left of the political spectrum. Its national alliance was Unity for Democracy (1989–1990).

For the 1989 parliamentary elections, PAIS formed the Unity for Democracy coalition with the Democratic Socialist Radical Party (PRSD) and reached arrangements with Concertación regarding candidacies. PAIS succeeded in electing two deputies: Juan Pablo Letelier (District 33) and Juan Martínez Sepúlveda (District 45).

PAIS dissolved when the Socialist Party reunited with IC and MAPU members, integrating them back into a single Socialist Party and ending PAIS’s purpose. The Communist Party also returned to activity after years of being banned. PAIS subsequently merged into the Socialist Party of Chile.
