2003–04 Top 16 season
The top level of French club rugby that year had 16 teams. In the first phase, teams played in two pools of eight. They earned 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, and 1 for a loss. After the first phase, each team added the points from matches against the four teams in the other pool (home and away).
The eight remaining teams were then split into two pools of four. The first two in each pool advanced to the semifinals. The winners moved on to the final, and the top teams earned spots in the next season’s Heineken Cup.
Champions: Stade Français (12th title). Runners-up: Perpignan. Relegated: US Colomiers and US Montauban.
