Democlito Angeles
Democlito J. Angeles (born August 3, 1922) was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the representative for Marikina from 1988 to 1992. Born in Calumpang, Marikina, he studied liberal arts at Far Eastern University and earned a law degree from Manuel L. Quezon University, then ran a law office. He had previously served on the Marikina Municipal Council. Angeles was a Liberal Party member and allied with Jovito Salonga. He won the 1987 election for Marikina’s at-large district after the People Power Revolution, defeating Salome Montoya; the result was proclaimed on June 10, 1987. As a congressman, he served on six committees: Agrarian Reform, Justice, Human Rights, Foreign Affairs, Ways and Means, and Urban Planning. He supported a bill for the cityhood of Novaliches in November 1987 and, in March 1988, walked out with agrarian reform committee members to protest a weaker land reform program. He was married to Serabella; they had two children and lived in Calumpang.
