Branko Stanovnik
Branko Stanovnik (born August 11, 1938) is a Slovenian chemist who specializes in organic chemistry. He studied at the University of Ljubljana, earned his PhD in 1964, and became a professor of organic chemistry in 1972. He has held several leadership roles in the chemistry departments and has published more than 550 papers. He has been a member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1991 (associate) and 1995 (full). Since 1999 he has directed SAZU’s International Cooperation and Scientific Coordination. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a member of The New York Academy of Sciences, and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
