John Hultquist House is a historic two-story wooden house in Swedesburg, Iowa, located at 105 Park Street. Built in 1918 for John Hultquist and his second wife, Amanda, the home was designed and built by C.K. Schantz in the American Foursquare style, part of the Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Movements. Hultquist, who came from Småland, Sweden, immigrated in 1880, worked for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, and then became a farmer. He eventually bought about 200 acres north of town. After retiring, he had this house built in 1918. Many Swedish immigrants in Wayne Township moved to Swedesburg after retirement to maintain their traditions. The property also includes a small barn to the east that originally housed horses, a cow, and chickens. The John Hultquist House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on July 15, 1999 (reference number 99000828).
