The Bourgogne Regiment was a unit of the French Royal Army, created on December 7, 1665, during the Ancien Régime. It was one of 37 new line infantry regiments formed to prepare for war against Spain after the death of King Philip IV. The regiment fought in the War of Devolution in the Southern Netherlands (1667–1668) and later participated in other French conflicts. In 1755, during the French and Indian War, part of the regiment sailed to New France and was stationed at Louisbourg. After Britain won the Plains of Abraham in 1759, the regiment returned to France and remained there until it was disbanded in 1791 during the French Revolution.
