Mark Anthony Eckman is the Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He was appointed on June 4, 2025 and installed on July 14, 2025, succeeding David Zubik. Before becoming bishop, he served as auxiliary bishop of Pittsburgh from 2022 to 2025.

Eckman was born on February 9, 1959, in Pittsburgh. He grew up in the area, attended Saint Valentine Elementary School and South Hills Catholic High School in Mt. Lebanon, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duquesne University in 1981. He studied for the priesthood at Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe.

He was ordained a priest on May 11, 1985, by Archbishop Anthony Bevilacqua at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. He served as parochial vicar at Resurrection Parish (1985–1990), Saint Sebastian (1990–1991), Saint Valentine (1991–1992), Saint Winifred (1992–1994), and Saint John Vianney (1994–1998). He then became pastor of Saint Sylvester Parish (1998–2009) and, starting in 2006, also pastor of St. Norbert Parish. In 2009 he became pastor of Saint Thomas More Parish, a post he held until 2021. In 2013 he was named episcopal vicar for clergy personnel.

Eckman was named auxiliary bishop of Pittsburgh in 2021 and was consecrated on January 11, 2022, at St. Paul Cathedral by Bishop David Zubik, with Bishops David Bonnar and Edward J. Burns as co-consecrators.

As bishop, his motto is “To serve in faith and charity.” He was installed as the diocesan bishop on July 14, 2025, at St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh.

In November 2025, he wrote a letter criticizing immigration policies from the second Trump presidency. He acknowledged the need for a nation to enforce its laws but said that many immigrants face deportation without warning and without due process, and that families are being separated, which he called cruel and inhumane in the Diocese of Pittsburgh.
