Bobby Mackey's Music World

Bobby Mackey's Music World was a nightclub in Wilder, Kentucky, owned by country singer Bobby Mackey. It has long been tied to supernatural folklore, including claims of hauntings and a “portal to hell,” but there is no credible evidence to support these legends. The club closed in March 2024, with plans to temporarily relocate to Florence, Kentucky while the original site was demolished and a new facility built there. The supposed portal and a basement wall with water-stain faces were planned to be moved to the new site. The building was demolished on December 10, 2024.

The site’s history is often told as a slaughterhouse in the early 1800s, followed by a roadhouse that carried names such as The Brisbane before Mackey bought it in 1978. Legends have connected the location to Pearl Bryan’s murder and other horrors, but researchers and public records have found no evidence to support these stories, and no link to Pearl Bryan has ever been established. Experts note that the haunting tales have grown over decades and remain unsubstantiated. A reporter who toured the site concluded there was nothing to indicate it was haunted.
