Bleaberry Tarn

Bleaberry Tarn is a small natural mountain tarn in the English Lake District, near Buttermere. It lies in a corrie below Red Pike and High Stile, with Chapel Crags on the ridge between them. A footpath from Buttermere up Red Pike runs along its north side. The walker A. Wainwright called the tarn secluded and suggested it formed in a volcanic crater. Sour Milk Gill flows from the tarn down to Buttermere, and a popular route up Red Pike follows this stream. In the 19th century it was sometimes known as Burtness Tarn or Blebba Tarn.
