Blagrove Common
Blagrove Common is a 4-hectare site near Sandon in Hertfordshire that has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its unimproved marshy grassland. It is one of the few remaining marshy meadows in east Hertfordshire and is crossed by a stream. The area supports a rich mix of plants, including several kinds of orchids, and kestrels hunt small prey like mice and voles on the site. The site is managed by the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, with planning authority North Hertfordshire District Council. Access is from Beckfield Lane by the house named Blagrove, and some parts have very deep mud. The SSSI notification date was 1985.
