William Harper (17 August 1897 – 20 January 1982) was an English footballer who played as a right-back. Born in Blackburn, he began his career with Feniscowles in the Blackburn Amateur League. He was spotted by scout William Williams, who recommended him to Nelson, a Third Division North club, and Harper joined in August 1924. He turned professional in December 1924 and made his league debut on 18 March 1925 in a 1–2 defeat away at Lincoln City. He played six league games for Nelson in the 1924–25 season but lost his place later and was not retained, returning to non-league football with Darwen. He later played for Chorley. He stood 6 ft tall. Harper died in Blackpool in 1982 at the age of 84.
