Beyond the Wall (2022 film)
Beyond the Wall is a 2022 Iranian drama film written and directed by Vahid Jalilvand, produced by Ali Jalilvand, and starring Navid Mohammadzadeh, Diana Habibi, and Amir Aghaei. The 126-minute Persian-language movie is produced by Mehr Taha Studio and distributed internationally by The Match Factory.
The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on 8 September 2022, where it competed for the Golden Lion.
Plot: A blind man named Ali attempts suicide, but his plan is interrupted by his building’s concierge. The concierge then tells Ali about an escaped woman named Leila who is hiding in the building, and Ali becomes determined to help her.
Production notes: Filming took about two years and was slowed by the lead actor contracting COVID-19. The film was one of Iran’s entries in the festival’s main competition.
