Best Student Council
Best Student Council (Gokujō Seitokai) is a Japanese anime created by Konami and animated by J.C.Staff, based on a manga. It aired on TV Tokyo in 2005 and ran for 26 episodes. A PS2 dating sim game was also released by Konami. In North America, the DVD was released by ADV Films in 2007.
Plot in simple terms:
- Rino Rando moves to Miyagami Private Academy and, thanks to a mysterious pen pal, joins the elite Best Student Council.
- The council was formed to protect the school’s freedom and gives its members free tuition, room, and board.
- Miyagami Private Academy is an all-girls school with the Best Student Council, also known as the Miyagami Academy Maximum Authority Wielding Best Student Council.
- The council is divided into four groups: Executive, Assault, Covert, and the Vehicle Squad. Each member has a special skill, such as fighting, gathering information, or weaponry. Rino uses a hand puppet named Pucchan.
- The President is the person who really knows how many members there are.
Key details:
- The Assault Squad handles safety and threats to the school; the Covert Squad gathers intelligence and conducts espionage.
- In the opening, two shadows represent secret Covert members who are later revealed as Kotoha Kutsugi and Ayumu Oume.
Music:
- Opening: “Koi se yo Onna no ko” by Yukari Tamura.
- Endings: “Guuzen Tenshi” (episodes 1–13) and “Koi suru miracle” (episodes 14–26).
Reception (quick notes):
- Some critics said the show uses familiar jokes but has funny and clever moments, with bright and cheerful art.
- It’s considered entertaining and good for unwinding, with some mild yuri undertones noted by reviewers.
