Al-Masajid (Arabic: المساجد al-Masājid) is a village in Bani Matar District, Sanaa Governorate, Yemen. It sits about 8,258 feet (2,517 meters) above sea level. The earliest record of Al-Masajid is from 859 CE (245 AH) in the work Ghayat al-amani by Yahya ibn al-Husayn, in connection with the destruction of the Ray’an dam. The same source also mentions a battle at Al-Masajid in 1617 (1026 AH). It describes Al-Masajid as a source of waters feeding into Wadi Zahr.
