Beattie ministry
The Beattie Ministry was the Queensland government led by Labor Premier Peter Beattie. It started on 26 June 1998, after Labor won the election but did not gain a majority. The party formed a minority government with the support of Independent MPs Liz Cunningham and Peter Wellington, who agreed to back Labor on confidence votes in return for commitments on accountability.
- 26 June 1998: Beattie and his deputy Jim Elder were sworn in as a two-person cabinet.
- 29 June 1998: A full ministry of 18 cabinet ministers and 4 parliamentary secretaries was sworn in.
The ministry stayed in place until the 2001 election, after which a new ministry was formed.
- 22 February 2001: Following the 2001 election, a ministry of 19 cabinet ministers and 5 parliamentary secretaries was sworn in. It lasted until the 2004 election.
- 12 February 2004: After the 2004 election, a new ministry of 19 cabinet ministers and 6 parliamentary secretaries was sworn in. It remained until 28 July 2005, when Deputy Premier Terry Mackenroth resigned and a reconstitution followed.
- 3 March 2005: Liddy Clark resigned; her portfolio was not immediately filled, with John Mickel taking her duties.
- 28 July 2005: A refreshed ministry of 19 cabinet ministers and 6 parliamentary secretaries was sworn in.
- 7 December 2005: Gordon Nuttall resigned as a minister; Tim Mulherin was appointed to the vacancy on 12 December 2005.
- 13 September 2006: After the 2006 election, a ministry of 19 cabinet ministers and 11 parliamentary secretaries was sworn in.
The Beattie Ministry continued until 13 September 2007, when Beattie retired and Anna Bligh became premier. The Bligh Ministry then succeeded it.
