Baukungri Hajw Gakhwnai, also called the Trekking of Baukungri Hill, is an annual festival in Kokrajhar, Assam. It takes place on the first day of the year in the Bodo calendar, which falls in mid-April, and is celebrated the day before Bwisagu. In the last five years, the Bodoland Territorial Council’s tourism department has promoted it as a major festival with programmes and adventure sports to attract visitors. Today thousands of people from all communities climb Baukungri Hill to welcome Bwisagu. The festival features trekking the hill, an ethnic food fair, cultural performances, and traditional sports, with participation from international visitors as well.
