Barents Sea dike swarm

Barents Sea dike swarm is a group of dolerite dikes in the northern Barents Sea. It has two main clusters that run across Svalbard and Franz Josef Land. The dikes formed as part of the Cretaceous High Arctic Large Igneous Province (HALIP). Aeromagnetic data show two regional dike swarms that tilt obliquely to the northern edge of the Barents Sea: the Franz Josef Land swarm and the Svalbard swarm. Seismic data indicate these dikes fed dolerite sills located in Permian to Early Cretaceous rocks in the East Barents Sea basin. U-Pb dating of the dolerites gives an emplacement age of about 121–125 million years ago.
