Black Mountain is a rural locality in the Shire of Noosa, Queensland, Australia. It covers about 32.6 square kilometres and had a population of 1,560 at the 2021 census.

Geography and features
The centre of Black Mountain is a hill called Black Mountain, rising to 312 metres above sea level. The hill gives the locality its name and has several communications towers at its summit. The summit and surrounding area are accessible via Eungella Drive. The land is a mix of rural residential estates in the north and east and rural land in the south and west. The main uses are grazing on native vegetation with some forestry.

Location and borders
Black Mountain lies west of Cooroy and south of Pomona, about 132 kilometres north of Brisbane. The postcode is 4563. The Bruce Highway enters from the northeast and forms part of the northern boundary with Pomona; the North Coast railway line forms part of the north-eastern boundary. There are no railway stations in Black Mountain; the nearest are in Cooroy and Pomona.

Education
There are no schools in Black Mountain. The nearest government primary schools are Pomona, Cooroy, and Federal. The nearest government secondary school is Noosa District State High School, which has Years 7–8 in Pomona and Years 9–12 in Cooroy.

History
Black Mountain State School operated from 1913 to 1961. The school building opened in 1914 on land donated by Edward Bonnell and is now a residence at 482 Black Mountain Road.

The area is semi-rural with Queenslander-style housing estates and boutique rural businesses and artists’ studios.
