Idiomarina fontislapidosi is a Gram-negative, aerobic, chemoorganotrophic, and motile bacterium from the genus Idiomarina. It was isolated from soil at Fuente de Piedra, Spain. In the taxonomic hierarchy, it belongs to the family Idiomarinaceae, order Alteromonadales, class Gammaproteobacteria, phylum Pseudomonadota, within the domain Bacteria. The species was first described in 2004 by Martínez-Cánovas and colleagues. The type strains are CECT 5859, CIP 108573, DSM 16139, F23, and LMG 22169. A synonym for this species is Idiomarina mucosa. The original study also introduced Idiomarina ramblicola as another new species from inland hypersaline habitats in Spain.
