Hypergeusia
Hypergeusia is a taste disorder where the sense of taste is unusually strong. People with hypergeusia may find flavors taste too intense, even in normal foods. The condition can be linked to problems in the brain area at the back of the head (a posterior fossa lesion) or to metabolic issues such as Addison’s disease, where salt loss in urine can cause a craving for salty and sour tastes. Other possible causes include medications, infections, or changes in the nerves or taste buds. If taste changes persist, see a healthcare provider to find the cause and get appropriate treatment.
