Axis Sally
Axis Sally was the nickname for two women who hosted English-language radio programs for the Axis powers in World War II. They mixed swing music with propaganda aimed at American troops. The messages urged surrender, warned that soldiers' wives and girlfriends back home might be cheating, and claimed the Axis knew where the troops were. American soldiers listened mainly for the music, even though they found the propaganda parts silly; one of the Axis Sallys was Gillars.
