Pueai Noi is a district (amphoe) in the southwestern part of Khon Kaen province in northeastern Thailand. It borders Nong Song Hong and Ban Phai districts in Khon Kaen, and Kut Rang and Na Chueak in Maha Sarakham province.

Pueai Noi started as a minor district on January 17, 1977, created from two tambons—Phueai Noi and Wang Muang—taken from Ban Phai district. It was upgraded to a full district on July 4, 1994.

The district is divided into four tambons and 32 villages. Pueai Noi is a subdistrict municipality (thesaban tambon) covering parts of tambons Phueai Noi and Sa Kaeo; Sa Kaeo is a subdistrict municipality covering the remaining areas of those two tambons. There are two tambon administrative organizations (TAO) for the remaining subdistricts.

As of 2010, the population was 19,917 and the area 173.0 square kilometers, giving a density of 114.1 people per square kilometer. The postal code is 40340 and geocode is 4011. The time zone is ICT (UTC+7).
