Parry's saltbush (Atriplex parryi) is a small shrub in the Amaranthaceae family. It grows in the deserts and plateaus of eastern California and western Nevada, especially in salty, alkaline soils like salt flats, often alongside other halophytes such as Nitrophila. The plant reaches up to about 50 centimeters tall and has stiff, spiny stems that form a rounded shape. It is densely covered with small gray-green oval leaves up to 2 centimeters long. Atriplex parryi is dioecious, meaning individual plants are either male or female, and both flower types appear in long clusters mixed with leaves. It flowers from April to October.
