2005 Motor City Bowl
The Memphis Tigers defeated the Akron Zips 38–31 in the 2005 Motor City Bowl, played at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, on December 27, 2005. Memphis finished the season 6–5, while Akron finished 7–5. Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams was named the game’s Most Valuable Player and finished his college career with this performance.
