Thank God We Left the Garden is the fourth studio album by American folk musician Jeffrey Martin. It was released on November 3, 2023, through Fluff and Gravy. The album runs 38 minutes and 29 seconds and sits in the folk Americana style. It’s Martin’s first album in six years, since 2017’s One Go Around. He wrote and recorded the songs in a shack in his backyard in Portland, Oregon, in late 2022, with producer Jon Neufeld and session musicians.

Critics greeted the album with high praise. It has a Metacritic score of 88 out of 100 from four reviews, indicating universal acclaim. Mojo compared it to early work by Nathaniel Rateliff, John Moreland, and John Prine, and suggested Martin might one day surpass them. Paste called it a stunning record with stark but emotionally rich songs. Uncut described it as mesmerising and often reminiscent of early-’70s music, noting its sparseness with occasional electric guitar textures. Glide Magazine praised Martin’s heartfelt emotion and the album’s simple, intimate approach.
