Asian Championships of Ski Mountaineering are multinational competitions for athletes from Asia. They began in 2007. The first championship in 2007 was organized by the Japan Mountaineering Association and sanctioned by the International Council for Ski Mountaineering Competitions (ISMC). The second edition took place in 2009 in China after the Asia Ski Mountaineering Federation (ASMF) was formed. It was sanctioned by the International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF), which grew out of ISMC in 2008. In 2009 a vertical race and a relay race were added. To involve more women, relay teams were mixed with one woman and three men. The third edition was held in 2012 in South Korea, organized by the Korea Alpine Federation. It was the second ISMF-sanctioned Asian Championship, because the World Championship planned for 2012 was moved to 2011.
