Ascendancy is a 1983 British drama film directed by Edward Bennett, starring Julie Covington and Ian Charleson. Set in Ireland during World War I, it follows a woman from the Anglo-Irish Ascendancy who learns about the Irish independence movement and becomes involved with it. The film won the Golden Bear at the 1983 Berlin International Film Festival. It runs 92 minutes and is in English. The budget was around £250,000.
