Sampson Walker

Sampson Walker (March 25, 1843 – March 7, 1933) was an English-born businessman and politician in Manitoba, Canada. He moved to Winnipeg with his family in 1882 and first worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway before starting his own business. Walker served on Winnipeg’s city council in 1891. He was elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly as a Conservative, representing Winnipeg North from 1903 to 1907.

In business, he started the Walker Oil Company in 1903, which joined the Canadian Oil Company in 1904. He was Western Manager for the Canadian Oil Company until retiring in 1905. He died in Winnipeg at age 89. The Turner-Walker Block, which he built in 1912, is a municipal heritage building in Winnipeg.
