Arrondissement of Tours: This is an administrative district in central France. It is part of the Indre-et-Loire department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, and Tours is the prefecture. The district contains 54 communes and covers 1,087.6 square kilometers. In 2023, about 397,913 people lived there, giving a density of around 366 inhabitants per square kilometer. Its INSEE code is 372. The arrondissement was created in 1800. In January 2017 its borders changed: it gained 12 communes from Chinon and lost 34 to Chinon and 46 to Loches. Since 2015, cantons are no longer aligned with arrondissement borders due to a nationwide reform.
