Quetta bombing – August 8, 2013, Quetta, Pakistan. A suicide bomber attacked a funeral for a police officer, targeting a senior officer named Fayaz Sumbal. The blast killed 37 people and injured more than 50. No group claimed responsibility, but authorities believed the Taliban were behind it. Sumbal spotted the bomber and began to search him, but the bomber detonated his device as Sumbal approached. The attacker wore a jacket packed with ball bearings and shrapnel.
