2017 PSA Annual Awards – Brief recap

The 2017 PSA Annual Awards honored the Philippines’ top sports achievers from 2016. The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA), the country’s oldest sports media group founded in 1949, organized the event. The PSA was led by Riera Mallari, sports editor of Manila Standard.

Top honors
- Athlete of the Year: Hidilyn Diaz (Weightlifting) — 2016 Olympic silver medalist. She was chosen unanimously over chess player Janelle Mae Frayna and Manny Pacquiao. Diaz became the first female Athlete of the Year since 2012.
