Apperian
Apperian, Inc. was a Boston-based software company that built a mobile application management (MAM) platform called EASE. Founded in 2009, the company offered cloud-based and on-premises software that let organizations distribute and secure enterprise apps for employees and contractors without altering the apps or managing devices. The platform supported iOS, Android, and Windows Phone, and could also be used for testing new apps.
Customers included NVIDIA, New Balance, Nationwide Mutual Insurance, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Apperian started as a third-party iPhone app developer and launched EASE in 2010. One founder, Chuck Goldman, previously led Apple’s professional services division and iPhone Enterprise Beta Program.
The company raised about $28 million in funding from angel investors and venture capital firms between 2009 and 2012, including North Bridge Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers’ iFund, CommonAngels, LaunchCapital, and Intel Capital.
In 2015 Apperian reported strong growth, with bookings rising and more than 1.5 million enterprise app downloads. In January 2017, Arxan Technologies acquired Apperian, and the business later became part of Digital.ai App Management.
