Runella zeae is a Gram-negative bacterium in the genus Runella. It was found in the stem of maize (Zea mays) in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. It belongs to the phylum Bacteroidota, class Cytophagia, order Cytophagales, and family Spirosomataceae. The species was described by Chelius and colleagues in 2002. Type strains include ATCC BAA-293, DSM 19591, KCTC 12164, and LMG 21438.
