Appenzell Alps
The Appenzell Alps are a mountain range in northern Switzerland. They sit on the northern edge of the Alps and span the cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, and St. Gallen, with smaller parts reaching into Thurgau and Zurich. In German they are called Appenzeller Alpen.
The range is bordered by the Schwyz Alps to the southwest, the Glarus Alps to the south, and the Rätikon to the southeast, covering about 1,800 square kilometers.
The highest point is Säntis, at 2,502 meters. The range is divided into six sub-ranges.
