Anton Hansen
Anton Hansen (1891–1960) was a Danish cartoonist and painter. Like Storm P. and Aksel Jørgensen, he drew satirical sketches for local newspapers, focusing on Copenhagen’s poor. He met them as a member of De Tretten and showed work with them in 1910 and 1912. From 1909 to 1924 he published political cartoons in the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet and the Norwegian Exlex and Arbeiderbladet. He drew for the German magazine Simplicissimus from 1920 to 1932, and later contributed cartoons to Danish papers such as Socialdemokraten and Information. He also did city drawings and created imaginative illustrations for books, including Grimms’ Fairy Tales (Grimms Eventyr).
