Ana Obregón
Ana Obregón (born Ana Victoria García Obregón on 18 March 1955 in Madrid) is a Spanish actress, TV presenter, and socialite. She studied biology, specializing in zoology, at the Complutense University of Madrid and also has an MBA in construction and real estate.
She began her film career in 1979 and appeared in international movies such as Bolero (1984) as Bo Derek’s sidekick, Mystery on Monster Island (1981), and Treasure of the Four Crowns (1983). She also had guest roles on American TV shows like The A-Team and Who’s the Boss?
In Spain, Obregón moved into television in the mid-1980s. From 1993 to 1998 she hosted the prime-time game show ¿Qué apostamos? with Ramón García on TVE. She later hosted many galas and New Year’s Eve programs, and she led the 1994 OTI Festival in Valencia.
She regularly hosted New Year’s bells on TVE (1994/95 with Joaquín Prat; 1995/96 and 2004/05 with Ramón García; 2020/21 with Anne Igartiburu; 2022/23 with Los Morancos) and the millennium bells on Antena 3 in 1999/2000. Obregón also acted in TV series such as Hostal Royal Manzanares (1996–1997) and A las once en casa (1998–1999). In 2002 she created and starred in Ana y los 7, a popular series with 91 episodes over five seasons and several international remakes. She has also appeared on shows like ¡Mira quién baila!, MasterChef Celebrity, and Mask Singer: Adivina quién canta.
Obregón has long been a staple of Spain’s celebrity press and has been linked with famous athletes, notably Davor Šuker. She had a son, Alejandro “Álex” Lequio García, born in 1992 to Alessandro Lecquio. Álex died in 2020 from cancer, and Obregón’s mother passed away in 2021, followed by her father in 2022.
In March 2023, Obregón announced she had become the grandmother of a girl named Ana Sandra (Analé) Lequio Obregón, born in Florida via surrogacy. She said the baby is her granddaughter and that the child was conceived with her late son’s sperm and a donor egg. Surrogacy is not legal in Spain, but the birth happened abroad.
