Cinnamon gliding hawkmoth (Ambulyx moorei)
The cinnamon gliding hawkmoth is a moth in the Sphingidae family. It was first described by Frederic Moore in 1858. Its wingspan is about 100–110 mm.
Where it’s found: Sri Lanka; southern and eastern India; the Nicobar and Andaman Islands; Thailand; Vietnam; southern China; the Philippines (Palawan, Balabac); Malaysia (Peninsular and Sarawak); Singapore; and Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan).
What it eats: larvae have been recorded feeding on Canarium album in China. Other known food plants include Buchanania and Lannea species.
Behavior: these moths are sluggish during the day but fly well at night.
